Use FindMy to locate Apple® devices

It happens to all of us. That thing that you swear you just had in your hand isn’t there, and you have no idea where it went.

Maybe it’s your phone, or worse… your MacBook.

Luckily there’s not only built-in tracking using Find My with all your devices, but Apple introduced AirTags to solve the problem of items that aren’t designed in Cupertino. Like your backpack or purse, for example. Or even your keiki or kupuna!

Here are three ways to get re-connected with your lost items - even if it’s under the sand on a beach somewhere on the back side of Maui.

First
: make sure you have Find My turned on for all your devices including iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple Watch, Mac, AirPods, or AirTag using the built-in app.

Remember, each devices has different instructions - some are found in Settings, others in System Preferences, or even Bluetooth.

Second: use either the Find My app or iCloud.com to locate your device.

Once you find it, you can choose different actions to perform including locking and/or erasing your device, playing a sound to alert you or anyone near of it’s precise location, or see it on a map so you can retrieve it as well as enabling Lost Mode and sharing your phone number for someone to call you if they find it (or them if you AirTagged a child’s school bag, for example).

Third: once located, if you reclaim possession you can unlock the device and/or turn of Lost Mode; if you lose it altogether, you can file a claim using AppleCare if you have coverage. NOTE: do not erase your iPhone or other device if you plan to use Theft and Loss protection until you are instructed by Apple.

As always, feel free to reach out to Pacifitec support if you need help with locating your lost items.
