When your iPhone® overheats

iPhone Temperature Alert

In Hawaii, we regularly leave cars out in the full sun and forget our phones on the dash, or toss our phones on a beach towel and neglect to cover it up. And we think, nah… gonna be right back, but then it’s an hour later. Oops! You wouldn’t leave your kid or your doggo out there, why your phone?

(Fun facts: the sun is 93 million miles away, over 100 times as wide as the earth, makes up 99% of our solar system’s mass…. So, if it’s so very easy for that huge flaming ball of fire to fry your skin in minutes, what is it doing to the insides of your precious iPhone left on the dash or soaking up the rays at Sandys? You guessed it - melting. So, first and foremost, please treat it like the expensive and delicate tech that it is, and make sure it stays under the shade and out of the heat always. If that isn’t possible, it will give you a warning like the one above. NOTE: you may still be able to make emergency calls, but that’s not guaranteed.)

Follow these best practices and make sure to let it cool first before attempting to use it. In rare cases, the metal and glass structure can heat so much as to cause contact burns on your skin. Be cautious! Usually, if caught in time, your device will return to normal operation in 15 minutes or so in the shade or air conditioning - patience is your best option usually. However, if you see any bubbling, cracking, or other distortions in the shape or surface of your device, DO NOT USE IT and find another way to contact Pacifitec or AppleCare as these pieces of technology can and do explode on occasion. FYI, these guidelines also apply to other Apple devices like MacBook, iPad, etc.

Don’t forget - if any of your tech becomes inoperable due to heat or cold, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at Pacifitec support for emergency assistance 24/7/365. You may need carry-in service if you’re too busy or at a remote location, and we’re always here to help.
